The Garden, Lesotho

The Semonkong Children’s Centre staff and community members grow different types of vegetables such as cabbage, radish, carrot, pumpkin and onion as well as maize and barley to feed those receiving support from The Village. The Garden plays a vital part in the community, particularly when monthly food packs are made-up for local families in desperate need of assistance when food becomes scarcer over the winter months (in Lesotho, winter starts in May).

We are supporting them to increase the capacity of their greenhouse by installing a new irrigation system as well as installing fences around the fields to protect their crops from animals.
